Hunt-Cavanagh Gallery

About the Exhibition

Conversation Pieces highlights the role of art in sparking dialogue, framing the gallery as a site where insights take shape through close looking, reflection, and research. The exhibition includes works that examine the vulnerability of the body across time, the ways memory is carried in archives and artifacts, and the discoveries that surface when artworks are studied in depth. Together, these encounters reveal how meaning evolves through attention, interpretation, and ongoing inquiry.

Drawn primarily from Providence College’s permanent collection, the exhibition features prints, drawings, paintings, photographs, and sculptures. Organized in collaboration with faculty, including Dr. Ellen Feiss, Fr. Gabriel Torretta and Professor Eric Sung, it invites students and visitors alike to contribute reflections and research that accumulate throughout the semester.

Artists: Ramiro Chaves, William Congdon, Robert Craner, Grace Hartigan, Hillerbrand+Magsamen, Fr. Thomas McGlynn, O.P., Nadia Haji Omar, Phyllis Sloane, Sheida Solemani, and Eric Sung
