About the Collection
Providence College Galleries draws from its collection of contemporary art to tell stories and share unique perspectives in spaces across the College’s campus.
Artworks in the collection directly reference subject matter central to the College’s liberal arts curriculum and indicative of diverse communities and cultures. PCG regularly collaborates with faculty, students and the community at-large to grow and use the collection in imaginative ways through classes, exhibitions, research, and more.
The online collection database housed on this website contains only a fraction of the College’s art collection. PCG staff digitizes and adds new artworks to the database on a regular basis. The collection is accompanied by an ever-growing library of images and related literature, which is also in the process of being archived in this website’s collection database. Please note that information about PCG’s collection is drawn from archival records and communal interpretation methods. We change and update such information regularly as new research and engagement are completed. Check back often to see newly archived artworks, images and texts.
