Classes are back in session at Providence College this week which always adds a new dimension to the feeling of a new year.
This week we safely reopen the galleries for the last leg of an outstanding presentation of work by our Studio Art Department Faculty. To go out with a bang, our brilliant students interviewed with these faculty artists, and we’ll begin posting the conversations twice a week for the duration of the show. Visit the WWWWH blog on our website and see the exhibition before it closes at 6pm on February 20th!
Mark your calendars for a virtual artist talk on March 17th when we open Tamara Gonzales’ mural presentation as the 2021 iteration of our On the Wall series. This show is the first presentation organized by PCG’s Curator-at-Large Kate McNamara. We’ll soon share progress as Tamara begins work in the Reilly Gallery. For those interested in getting a sense of Tamara’s practice and inspirations, this interview from Maake Magazine offers a terrific introduction.
We share exciting news that Jamilee Lacy, our Director and Chief Curator, was recently awarded a curatorial fellowship from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The fellowship supports an exciting future project that has us looking forward to the time when we can bring artists from around the world back into the galleries!
